Diemme Filtration has established a long-term partnership with a global leader in alumina production, supporting their bauxite residue management strategy across multiple sites in Oceania and South America.
Known for its rigorous technical and commercial evaluation processes, this client selected Diemme equipment for its proven ability to meet the most demanding standards in dewatering and operational performance.
From the outset, our systems demonstrated the capability to deliver filter cakes with the geotechnical properties required to enable safe stacking up to 100 meters in height, critical for long-term environmental and space management.
Custom Solutions Driven by Continuous Collaboration
Over the course of this collaboration, Diemme Filtration has delivered, so far, a total of 21 GHT.2500.P filter presses across the client’s network of alumina refineries:
- 6 units in a major alumina refinery in Western Oceania
- 12 units across two production lines in another key site in the same region
- 3 units in a South American facility
Each filter is equipped with an overhead beam frame, automatic plate shifting, and high-pressure cloth washing (50 bar).
The systems feature a filtration area of up to 1,750 m² per unit and a cake volume of 30 m³ per cycle. Even though the availability of these filters can be as high as 85%, the installations are more conservatively sized with an availability for each filter of 77%.
Total plant throughput for the installations in Oceania, exceeds 9,000 tons/day of dry solids per site, with notable water savings as a secondary environmental benefit.
Monthly meetings between Diemme and the client’s technical and commercial teams are a cornerstone of this collaboration.
These sessions foster open discussion on operational improvements, innovative project ideas, and equipment customization. Many technical upgrades have been implemented based on these exchanges, increasing both performance and customer satisfaction in a co-engineered approach.
