The customer refines mostly vegetable oil for the food industry. The oil is mainly from sunflower seeds, peanuts, palm and fish. The customer already owned old manual filter presses with poor filtration efficiency, leading to very low refined oil recovery.
Because the product characteristics and the operational conditions (range of temperatures) are quite challenging, and also because of the wide variation of oil types treated, the correct selection of the filter was difficult.
A close collaboration began with numerous laboratory tests and continued at Diemme® Filtration with study and design to determine the most suitable machines for both the purification (high temperatures) and the winterisation process (lower temperatures).
Diemme® Filtration, drawing on its experience, succeeded in delivering filter presses meeting the specific needs of the different filtration applications, in particular, with precise dosing of diatomaceous earth and activated carbon.
Furthermore, the membrane technology used for the two filter presses permits maximum recovery of oil, as required by the customer.
